Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt Yuriy Shishkov Stratocaster Closet Classic (Candy Apple Red) Overview
Here we have a special collaboration between legendary Master Builder Yuriy Shishkov and GAK. The idea behind this Strat was, rather than us tell Yuriy what we wanted, to have him build the guitar he would want to be playing himself! So Yuriy very much led the design of this particular instrument in accordance with his preference and experience of many years of building some of the world's finest instruments. So the basis for this Strat was a '60s model but with an Ash (not Alder) body, resplendent in a Candy Apple Red finish with gold undercoat. The body finish is beautifully executed nitro Closet Classic with some very nice lacquer checking, nothing over the top. Bridge-wise there is a 2-point American Deluxe with vintage saddles. Electronics wise we have a classic HSS format, the single coils are Custom Shop '60s with a zebra Seymour Duncan '59 in the bridge and the black plastics set it all off very nicely. Strap buttons are locking to avoid any mishaps! The beautiful AA birdseye maple neck has a '60s backshape and is finished in fantastic feeling WLS satin with a light tint to really bring out the grain. The slab Rosewood fingerboard has a 9.5" to 12" compound radius and also has white binding- very cool! The frets are narrow & tall 6105s, the nut is bone and the headstock has a gloss finish. The tuners are Schaller Deluxe with some curvy pearloid buttons. A Yuriy Shishkov signature neckplate tops it all off.
