The guitar's neck also is made from solid mahogany cut to the superior quarter-sawn orientation, carved to the fast yet comfortable SlimTaperGäó profile of the early '60s, and glued into the body with the time-tested mortise & tenon joint that promotes resonance and sustain. It carries a sturdy fingerboard made from heat-treated baked maple, with 22 medium-jumbo frets and a 12-inch radius for easy, choke-free bending. A PLEK-cut Corian nut ensures precise intonation while enhancing sustain, which is further aided by Gibson's traditional 17-degree back-angled headstock, silkscreened with the gold Gibson logo, just like the originals.
The heart of a Junior always has been found in its hot, raw P-90 pickup, and the SG Junior '60s is no exception.
