Vintage V1300VSB (Vintage Sunburst) Overview

The V1300 is based on the popular V300, but with a much higher spec. Proudly boasting a solid German Spruce top, solid Mahogany back and sides, Grover tuners, fake tortoise shell binding and plenty of bright, vibrant tones.

The headstock of the V1300 is square, with a plain gloss varnish showing the dark grain of the Rosewood facing beneath. The front has Vintages signature logo in Abolone inlaid at the top. The rear is plain varnished Mahogany, lighter in colour than the front, and we have 2 rows of 3-a-side Chrome Grover machine heads, open geared style with small buttons sticking out on thin posts.

The Mahogany neck also has a gloss finish, it's a fairly good handful, a C profile, nut width is 44mm. The Rosewood fingerboard is unbound, with large white dot markers. The frets themselves are quite big, well polished up, no graininess, and the board is also well finished.

The body is made of solid Mahogany, with a gloss finish showing the golden coloured wood beneath. The top is solid German Spruce, much lighter in colour, with a decent tight grain. Both the top and back are bound in mock tortoiseshell, very smart, and the front also has a matching scratchplate.

The bridge is Rosewood, and the soundhole features a herringbone rosette with black and white pin stripes as well.

The V300 is famous for sounding beautiful, and that has a laminated Nato body, so imagine the improvements on offer when you have a solid Mahogany body and much better quality top. OK, Vintage have more than doubled the price, but this is as good as an acoustic guitar at this price point will sound.

The clarity of tones is remarkable for a small bodied guitar, with plenty of brightness and sustain. Strummed chords sound full bodied and loud with good bass response. Fingerpickers will also appreciate the good response across the range.

An excellent playing guitar with a lovely sound, high end specifications and attractive looks at a bargain basement price - very good value for money.
