The luthiers at Yamaha redesigned the classical guitars in the Yamaha CG series of nylon string classical acoustic guitars with a new bracing pattern for rich resonance and excellent response and a strong 3-ply laminate neck which allows lower string height for greater playability. The head shape is now simpler with Yamaha's tradition Tuning Fork logo. Additional new features are an intricate colourful rosette surrounding the sound hole, a matte finish rosewood bridge, a new design saddle fit for improved attact and sustain while reducing string vibration loss to transfer rich resonance to the body. A matte finish on the neck's back provides a secure grip for the left hand. The overall results are classical nylon string acoustic guitars that deliver a mature, balanced tone throughout their entire range with exceptional quality, durability and value.The entry level Yamaha CG122MC offers a solid top classical nylon string acoustic guitar at affordable price. The Yamaha CG122MS with solid Engelman Spruce top and CG122MC with solid American Cedar top are the only matte finish modesl in the CG series of classical nylon string guitars. The Yamaha CG122MC classical guitar features a solid American Cedar top, Nato back and sides, Nato neck, rosewood fingerboard and bridge. The Yamaha CG122MC classical guitar's sound is delicate, rich and balanced.
Cedar used an acoustic guitar tone wood is warm and bright with excellent response and full treble. Cedar provides a mature tone with little change over time.
